Most religions, human-gods, institutions, medical sciences etc make either use our fear of death as a weapon or monetize it. We spend millions on rituals, prolonging life, worshipping gods, because we feel they will give us an afterlife. I like to think that if one overcomes the fear of death, one overcomes anything else in life. One gets the strength to fight, achieve, live, protect. I have overcome this fear. Largely. I didnt do anything special and I didnt have a near-death-experience either. I just started telling myself, in big black bold letters over the clouds…
“When you die, nothing happens, nobody goes to hell or heaven. You just die. And it really is over. Gracefully accept it.”
To spread the message, I plan to create an installation to be set up after I die. I’ll let my grave be connected to an electronic system (based on Tesla’s idea of producing electricity, yes yes we need to work on the details of execution) and then let a small bulb glow as energy releases from the decomposition of my body.
Peace. I hope that there will be less war, less religious conflicts and more of the good stuff.
I’ll leave you with a question: Dont you think its strange that all religions focus alot on what happens after you die?
